Meet the Team

  • Matthew Doherty

    Manager

In between meetings and client interactions, as the Manager for Innovation Initiatives Ontario North (IION),  Matt dedicates time to strategic planning and brainstorming to help innovative business grow and thrive. Constantly on the lookout for new opportunities and ways to support client success, he also keeps current on industry trends and best practices. His days are dynamic and filled with a mix of problem solving, creativity and a genuine passion for helping others succeed.

Out of the office you can find him enjoying his favourite pastimes. Whether on the golf course (unsuccessfully trying to) perfect his swing, hitting the pavement for a refreshing run or exploring new destinations, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.

  • Emily Ryan

    Advisory & Client Services Officer

Emily works directly with businesses by providing advisory services and connecting them to organizations, resources, and funding opportunities. She is the program lead for the Step Forward Entrepreneurs Program (SFEP), the Accelerate Advisory Service and the Core5 – Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN) initiative. Emily has a passion for helping people and enjoys working with businesses to help them achieve their goals.

Emily loves being busy and is often told she doesn’t know how to relax. Outside of the office she enjoys spending time with her boyfriend, stepson and big orange cat, Jake. She has a passion for travelling and experiencing new cultures, attending concerts, doing jigsaw puzzles and enjoying sunsets at the lake.

  • Miranda Maitland

    Marketing & Client Management Specialist

Miranda has a passion for supporting local in all aspects of her life and enjoys working with local businesses to help them grow.  At IION, Miranda schedules initial meetings with potential clients and manages the client intake, data and reporting. She enjoys designing IION’s marketing materials, collecting client success stories to promote our clients, and managing our social media and monthly newsletter. She is the program lead for the Skills Development Placement Program.

As an entrepreneur outside of work, you will rarely find her sitting still.  She enjoys tending her gardens, Saturdays behind her farmer’s market booth and spending time with her husband and 3 sons on their small farm with their horses, livestock and dogs. Her free time is spent at their camp, or out fishing back lakes, hiking, kayaking or adventuring on jet skis, Atvs, and snowmobiles.
