Intellectual Property Ontario (IPON)

IPON is a provincial agency that provides trusted IP support and services to help businesses and researchers innovate and grow. Financial support, IP education and mentorship programs are available to help clients leverage and manage valuable Ontario-made IP.

Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO)

The Canadian Intellectual Property Office is responsible for the administration and processing of the greater part of intellectual property in Canada. CIPO's areas of activity include patents, trademarks, copyright, industrial designs and integrated circuit topographies.

Elevate IP

The ElevateIP Program provides access to free informational resources, workshops and programs to help startups understand the use of IP. Up to $25k in coaching and resources to develop IP Strategies and access to funding & expertise to undertake IP strategy implementation.

Ontario’s IP Ecosystem Map is an accessible, interactive PDF provides an overview of IP organizations, services and support available across Ontario to help entrepreneurs, researchers and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) navigate the province’s complex IP landscape.

MaRS Startup Toolkit contains advice, lessons and tips from their community of entrepreneurs and operators. The specific IP Collection gives you the basics of copyright and trademarks.

Centre for International Governance Innovation

the Centre for International Governance Innovation (CIGI), has prepared this e-learning course to provide you with a basic understanding of how IP can be strategically leveraged to advance business objectives.

University of Toronto Free Course

The Intellectual Property Education Program teaches IP Foundations and will introduce learners to the general foundations of IP and related topics, including patents, trademarks, copyright, industrial design and trade secrets.

Innovation Canada’s Explore IP

Explore IP is a database that improves the way that companies find and identify existing IP held by Canada’s public and not-for-profit sectors giving them access to R&D solutions that can be licensed and/or commercialized.

NRC IRAP’s IP Assist Program

IP Assist program helps Canadian firms by providing IP advice, connections and funding through three different service offerings. The program aims to support innovative companies to build IP awareness, develop an IP strategy and execute IP actions.
